A Burmese state-owned newspaper says the U.S. government is polluting the minds of Burmese journalists attending a course at the American Center in Rangoon.
A commentary in the New Light of Myanmar newspaper says the "English for Journalism" course offered by the center is spreading "poisonous" American propaganda among Burmese journalists.
The newspaper also accused American instructors at the center of using the course to obtain information from Burmese journalists about Burma's education, health and social sectors.
The American Center is operated by the U.S. embassy in Rangoon.
The journalism course being offered to Burmese students is aimed at helping them improve their English and reporting skills.
Commentaries in official Burmese media often reflect the views of Burma's military rulers.
