Burma's military junta has designated four expatriate dissident groups as terrorist organizations for their alleged involvement in bombings in the country.
A Home Ministry press release Wednesday named the four groups as the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma, the Federation of Trade Unions of Burma, the All Burma Students Democratic Front and the National League for Democracy-Liberated Area.
The National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma is based in the United States, while the other three groups are based in Thailand.
The ministry said people arrested in connection with the bombings have confirmed the involvement of the expatriate groups in terrorist activities.
The ministry said the groups were also involved in fabricated propaganda to cause disunity among ethnic groups.
