Burma's state-run media say flash floods caused by Cyclone Mala have killed 18 people, bringing the death toll from the storm to at least 24.
The New Light of Myanmar newspaper says the new deaths were reported in areas surrounding the Irrawaddy region. At least 14 others are still missing. Earlier reports had confirmed four deaths and 31 injured.
Cyclone Mala hit western Burma last Friday and Saturday with winds of up to 240 kilometers an hour. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, along with at least five factories.
Some beach resorts on Burma's western coast were also damaged. State media say relief efforts are continuing.
