Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's doctor says the Burmese pro-democracy leader has recovered from a stomach ailment that aroused concern about her health last week.
The physician, Tin Myo Win, tells VOA's Burmese service that Aung San Suu Kyi has fully recovered from her illness. She recuperated at home, the doctor says, and there was no need for hospital treatment.
Tin Myo Win declined to discuss further details of the Nobel Peace Prize winner's health, out of concern for her privacy.
The 60-year-old democracy leader is confined to her home in Rangoon, under a form of house arrest that amounts to virtual solitary confinement. Her freedom has been restricted for most of the past 16 years, and the generals who rule Burma have extended the house-arrest order against her to mid-2007.
