More than 120 people were killed early Sunday, when a Russian passenger jet skidded off a rain-soaked runway in Siberia, struck a concrete barrier and burst into flames.
Authorities say more than 60 other people survived the crash of the Sibir Airlines (A-310) Airbus, which was trying to land in Irkutsk when it veered off the runway. More than 50 of the survivors are being treated in hospitals for burns and other injuries.
The passengers included a group of children traveling from Moscow to Lake Baikal, a popular Siberian tourist destination near the Mongolian border.
Russian emergency officials say the plane's landing gear may have caught fire as the plane touched down. Authorities say flight recorders have been recovered and sent to Moscow for analysis.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a government probe, and prosecutors have announced a criminal inquiry.
