Kyaw Thu Ra and Soe Myat Min scored goals to lead Burma to a 2-1 win over Indonesia in the final of the 38th Merdeka Cup football tournament in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
After a scoreless first half in which both teams attacked aggressively, Burma opened the scoring in the 61st minute as Thu Ra blasted a shot into the top corner of the net.
Burma doubled its lead in the 85th minute when captain Myat Min headed a corner kick into the net. Indonesia avoided the shut out with a goal two minutes later from Zaena Ariff.
The title was Burma's fourth in the tournament since it began in 1957. The other teams in the four-nation event were Thailand and host Malaysia.
