European Union's foreign policy chief is to meet with Iran's top nuclear negotiator on Thursday to discuss possible ways to resolve Tehran's nuclear standoff with the West.
An EU spokesperson, Cristina Gallach, told reporters in Brussels today that Javier Solana will meet Iran's Ali Larijani somewhere in Europe, but the place has yet to be decided.
It will be the second meeting between the two officials in a week.
Diplomats say at the previous talks in Vienna, Larijani offered to consider a temporary suspension of enrichment activities during negotiations. But Iran publicly denied making the proposal.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said Iran must suspend uranium enrichment in a verifiable fashion before negotiations can begin on its nuclear program.
Iran ignored an August 31st U.N. deadline to stop enriching uranium.
