Heavy seasonal rains over the past several weeks have left at least 49 people dead in Thailand and Burma.
State-run media in military-ruled Burma report that at least 10 people have died in flooding in and around the central city of Mandalay in recent days. The reports say flooding disrupted train service in the area and has closed roads.
Officials in Thailand say the unusually heavy rains have killed at least 39 people since August and have affected at least two million people in 46 provinces. The flooding has also closed roads and destroyed crops in rural areas.
In an attempt to prevent widespread flooding, authorities in the central city of Ayutthaya have diverted flood waters into farmland.
