A video of the wedding of Burmese leader General Than Shwe's daughter is drawing fire from critics of Burma's reclusive military government.
The video, which recently surfaced on the Internet, shows the general's daughter getting married in early July, swathed in diamonds at a lavish-looking ceremony.
Some Asian journalists have criticized the Burmese leader, saying it is shameful to display such luxury while most Burmese citizens live in poverty.
It is unclear how or why the video turned up on the Internet.
The U.S. State Department says the Burmese government is responsible for a number of human rights violations, including rape, torture, extrajudicial killing, forced labor, and confiscation of property.
