Burma's aging military leader has flown to Singapore for a medical check up.
Airport officials and diplomats say Senior General Than Shwe left for Singapore today.
The 73 year old general is believed to be in poor health. It is unclear when he will return to Burma.
The general has ruled Burma since 1992. His military government has come under fire from the international community for human rights abuses and its reluctance to make democratic reforms.
