Indonesia has rejected a draft resolution on Burma that the United States has proposed to the United Nations Security Council.
Indonesia's Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda says the draft resolution slows progress towards democracy in Burma. He says the international community should find more effective ways to help overcome the problems in that country.
The Security Council is expected to discuss the proposed resolution in the coming weeks. It refers to Burma as a "threat to international security and peace."
A U.S. State Department official who visited the region last month James Warlick says the situation in Burma is getting worse every day.
