Malaysian maritime police say they have detained 108 Burmese nationals who were trying to enter the country illegally in a fishing boat designed to carry only 10 people.
Police say the boat was intercepted today near a fishing village in Panang province, near the Thai border.
The Bernama news agency quotes police as saying all 108 Burmese were males between ages 12 and 52, who had been at sea for 15 days without valid travel documents.
