Thai authorities say forest fires that have been raging out of control in southern Burma for several days are covering large parts of northern Thailand with thick smoke.
Officials say four Thai districts and the Burmese town of Tachilek are among the worst hit areas/ and that the fires are threatening public health and have caused airlines to cancel flights.
Local authorities have advised people to wear masks and avoid outdoor activities.
Meanwhile, the Thai air force has resumed artificial rain-making operations in the hardest hit areas to stop the fire from moving into Thailand.
