Thailand's foreign ministry has delivered a protest to Burma following a clash along the two countries' borders that killed a Thai soldier.
The state-run Thai News Agency says the ministry summoned Burma's ambassador to receive the protest. The head of Thailand's army has sent a similar letter of protest.
The skirmish occurred late Wednesday in northern Mae Hong Son province. Burma has yet to respond or comment on the Thai soldier's death.
Thai military officials have suggested that the incident may have been a misunderstanding and that Burmese troops may have mistaken the Thai soldiers for ethnic Burmese insurgents.
Thailand's army chief, Sondhi Boonyaratglin, says that the two sides will hold talks to discuss the incident.
