The United Nations has criticized a Burmese rights group for what the UN says are inaccuracies in a recent report about aid programs in Burma.
The UN says many of the points made in the report are either incorrect or dated. It says the report paints a picture of the humanitarian response in Burma that does not reflect reality.
The report by the Karen Human Rights Group Tuesday accuses international aid donors of overlooking rights abuses in the country. The UN humanitarian office for Burma says it is regrettable that the authors of the report did not review or discuss it with UN agencies before it was published.
However, the UN says it agrees with the report's basic premise that there are formidable challenges and constrains confronting the humanitarian aid community in Burma.
