India's naval chief, Admiral Sureesh Mehta, has begun a nine-day tour of Burma and Singapore to boost military ties with the neighbors
Indian media report Mehta will hold talks with top leaders of Burma's military government during his visit to Rangoon.
India has recently supplied Burma with two naval surveillance aircraft as well as smaller naval gun boats. After his visit to Burma, Mehta will head a delegation to Singapore to attend the International Maritime exhibition.
The Indian navy has sent two warships to take part in the exhibition.
