Malaysia's foreign minister has expressed hope that the Burma's upcoming final session of its constitution drafting convention will lead to a free election for the country.
Syed Hamid Albar made the comment Sunday in an interview with the country's national news agency, Bernama.
Albar stressed that members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations remain concerned about democratization in Burma even though it may not publicly mention it.
Albar says he hopes Burma will complete the constitution drafting process, get it approved and hold an election.
He said that will be seen as fulfilling the country's move towards democracy. The National Convention is to convene on July 18th.
