Burmese state media say thousands of people have lost homes in flooding that swept through the center of the country last week.
The state-run New Light of Myanmar newspaper said torrential rains sent rivers rising more than a meter, stopping trains and closing schools in and near the capital, Rangoon.
At least one bridge was reported washed out 50 kilometers north of the capital.
The paper also said a tornado injured four people and destroyed 80 homes (in Taikkyi township) Friday.
