Senior Burmese Official to Visit North Korea

Asian diplomats say Burma's deputy foreign minister, Kyaw Thu, will participate in four days of talks.

Burma cut ties with Pyongyang in 1983, after North Korean commandos were blamed for a deadly bombing in Rangoon during a visit by former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan.

Mr. Chun was not hurt in the bombing, but at least 20 people were killed and many others were wounded.

Burma and North Korea have both been branded as "outposts of tyranny" by the U.S. government, but it wasn't until April of this year that the two sides began re-establishing official ties.
