Burma's military government was pummelled at FBC conference held on Feb. 15 and 16 at GW University's Marvin Center.
At the conference Dr. Alfred Oehlers of Aukland University called for the removal of the junta for the long-term solution of the country's economic destruction.
Another speaker, Dr. Kyi May Kaung from the Institute for Community and Institutional Develoment said that it was generally thought among Burmese dissidents that junta desperately needs the money from the humanitarian aids.
She pointed out that since the year 2000 when Leutenant General Khin Nyunt acknowledged for the first time that HIV problem existed in Burma, the agreements for humanitarian aids has multiplied. It shouldn't be so as the junta has yet to undertake political reforms, many participants agreed in their discussion.
