Mother Works, a maternity-wear retailer with 935 stores and $453 million sales in 2002, announced that it ended sourcing from Burma because of its human rights violations.
Morsly, Inc. and 48 Hours Sportswear joined Mothers Works in announcing the decision. The Free Burma Coalition and 30 other organizations contacted the companies telling them about the situation in Burma, highlighting the human rights violations and forced child labor.
In the last three years, 38 other companies ended business practices in or with Burma.
