A U.S. industry association has called for an immediate and total ban on apparel and footwear imports from Burma due to massive human rights abuses in the country.
The American Apparel and Footwear Association says private businesses should join world governments in condemning Burma's military government for allowing human rights abuses.
The Free Burma Coalition says the industry group's move follows pledges from more than 40 leading companies -- including Wal-Mart, Adidas and Saks -- to boycott products made in Burma.
