Burmese Military Government Says Protester Who Seeks Refuge In British Embassy Was Sent By Exile Groups - 2003-04-27

The Burmese government says talks are continuing with the British embassy in Rangoon to decide the fate of a man who took refuge there April fourth.

The unidentified man staged a non-violent protest outside the embassy with another man, and then sought refuge inside the compound. Police detained the other man, described as a Buddhist monk. His fate is not known.

A government spokesman Friday said the protester who sought refuge is a terrorist who was sent by exiled Burmese groups to carry out subversive acts inside Burma.

There has been no comment from the British embassy about the man who sought refuge there.

Information of the report is provided by AP and AFP.
