One person has been killed and 47 others injured in a bomb blast at a movie theater in the northern Burmese town of Pyu.
The Burmese state media says the attack took place Thursday, but news about the incident was reported today (Saturday).
The wounded were rushed to Pyu People's Hospital, with 12 of the most severely injured transferred to nearby Toungoo hospital. Thirteen people were discharged and 22 people remained under observation.
Burmese authorities blame the rebel Karen National Union for the attack.
The KNU is one of the few remaining ethnic insurgent troops in Burma fighting military rule. In April, the military blamed two sabotage attacks of natural gas pipelines on the KNU. The group later admitted responsibility.
