Burma's military government says the International Committee of the Red Cross will be allowed to visit several detained pro-democracy opposition members.
A Burmese official said the Red Cross would be allowed to visit such detainees as Tin Oo, vice chairman of the opposition National League for Democracy party. But the official would not say whether the group would be allowed to meet with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
A Red Cross spokesman (Michel Ducreaux) says a delegation will meet with Burmese officials Wednesday to discuss terms of the access.
