Thai officials are expected meet with delegates from the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees in Bangkok today (Tuesday) to discuss the status of Burmese refugees living in Thailand.
Thailand has demanded to play a role in the process of awarding refugee status to Burmese exiles. Bangkok says the current process does not provide details of the identities or whereabouts of those who receive refugee status.
The French news agency quotes a U.N. spokesman as saying the U.N. refugee agency is willing to work with Thai authorities on the issue.
