The International Herald Tribune: Sanctions Do Not Work In Burma - 2003-11-17

Nicholas Kristof of New York Times wrote an article in the Herald Tribune saying that Sanctions do not work and that it does not work in Burma.

Htun Aung Gyaw, former president of All Burma Student Democratic Front, responded with an internet article saying Sanctions do work and will work in the case of Burma.

VOA Burmese Service interviewed Htun Aung Gyaw and Bo Hla Tint of the NCGUB exiled government of Burma for the Burma Forum Program.

They responded to the points made in the article. The Burmese Military Government said that they would not be intimidated by the sanctions and that the sanctions would only hurt the people.

Nicholas Kristof would not respond to the invitation to respond to what U Htun Aung Gyaw and U Bo Hla Tint had to say.
