The Thai prime minister has accused Burmese troops of overreacting after they fired on Thai fishing boats that intruded into Burmese territorial waters.
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra told reporters in Bangkok today (Friday) their action was totally inappropriate and that he will ask the foreign ministry to investigate. But he also expressed displeasure at the Thai fishermen for intruding into another country's waters.
The shooting, which left one fisherman dead, took place Tuesday in Burmese waters in the Andaman Sea near Thailand's Koh Surin Island.
