Burma says that senior members of an ethnic Kayan organization are backing the government's so-called 'road map' to democracy.
The New Light newspaper says the chairman of the Pa-O national organization (U Aung Hkam Hti) met with Prime Minister Khin Nyunt in Rangoon to announce his group would attend next year's national convention.
Rangoon called the meeting to set guidelines for a new constitution.
The Burmese government has been recruiting ethnic minority representatives to attend the convention.
The newspaper says the group is the second former rebel organization to state its support for the road map.
