The chief of India's army says India and neighboring Burma may launch a joint offensive against Indian separatists operating from Burmese territory.
General NC Vij told reporters (Friday) that Indian troops have been sent to Burma to train Burmese soldiers for the possible operation.
In recent years, several rebel groups in northeastern India have moved into Burma, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
Bhutan and India began a joint crackdown on the groups on December 15th. General Vij says 650 rebels have been killed or captured and that all but two of their estimated 30 bases have been neutralized.
