Vietnam says it has detained at least 60 Burmese and Thai fishermen on charges of illegally fishing in Vietnamese waters.
Authorities say the fishermen were removed Saturday from eight ships off the coast of southern Vietnam, near the border with Cambodia. The ships were also impounded.
Vietnam detains hundreds of foreign fishermen every year for illegally fishing in Vietnamese waters. Most are returned home after a few days.
