An independent media organization has welcomed the release in Burma of journalist and poet Kyi Tin Oo after more than 10 years in jail.
Reporters Without Borders says the 60-year-old journalist was freed last week. He was sentenced in 1994 to prison for writing articles the military government deemed unacceptable.
The media group says Kyi Tin Oo suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. One of his sons is reported serving a 14-year sentence for membership in a banned student movement.
