Abductors of South Korean Reportedly Hold Others in Iraq - 2004-06-21

Iraqi militants threatening to kill a South Korean man abducted in Fallujah Thursday are reported to be holding a number of other foreign nationals hostage.

The South Korean employer of the kidnap victim whoi is seen on video tape pleading for his life has told (South Korea's) Yonhap news agency that the militants are holding about 10 other foreign hostages.

The militants have said they will behead the South Korean hostage unless his country scraps a decision to send 3,000 troops to Iraq. South Korean officials say they will do everything possible to gain his release, but insist the deployment will take place in August, as planned.

The kidnappers say they belong to a group led by al-Qaida operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
