A U.S. military spokesman in Iraq says four American Marines were killed today (Monday) in the restive province of Al-Anbar west of Baghdad.
The spokesman says the four were killed while conducting security and stability operations.
The announcement came after witnesses told reporters the four victims' bodies were found next to a building under construction in the central city of Ramadi.
In other violence, four Iraqi citizens were killed and four wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near their convoy, about 50 kilometers south of Mosul today (Monday).
Meanwhile, Iraq has expanded oil exports from its southern terminals, following a resumption of operations at the second of two pipelines that had been shut down by sabotage last week.
