The British Foreign Office says eight crew members of three British navy boats seized by Iran are now in the custody of British diplomats.
The Foreign Office said today (Thursday) that the six Royal Marines and two British sailors were turned over to British diplomats in southern Iran and then flown to the capital, Tehran.
The eight men were seized Monday, when their boats strayed into the Iranian side of the Shatt al-Arab waterway between Iraq and Iran.
Iran said it was releasing the men since they admitted to entering the country's territorial waters by mistake.
But Iran's state television says Iran will keep the three boats and equipment seized along with the crew.
