Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri has called on Burma to do more to introduce democratic reforms.
Ms. Megawati told ASEAN foreign ministers in Jakarta that Burma's military government should take every action that, in her words, "adds substance" to claims that it is interested in emocracy.
Ms. Megawati did not bring up the continued house arrest of Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
The United States and European Union have demanded that ASEAN do more to pressure Burma's military government to enact democratic reforms and free Aung San Suu Kyi.
