The United Nations is warning that the AIDS epidemic in Burma is threatening to run wild.
A U.N. spokesman says Burma is one of the top three countries in Southeast Asia in terms of infection prevalence, with an estimated 620,000 people between the ages of 15 to 49 believed to have HIV.
U.N. officials say that while Burma has international aid money to use in the fight against AIDS, the country lacks hospitals and other infrastructure needed in the campaign.
