Detained Burmese democracy advocate Aung San Suu Kyi did not attend a ceremony today (Monday) commemorating the assassination of her father in 1947.
Her older brother, Aung San Oo was also absent.
This is the second year Aung San Suu Kyi has missed the event, known as Martyr's Day. It marks the date a gunman killed Aung San and several of his cabinet members, just a few months before Burma's independence from Britain.
Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since May 2003 after a clash between her supporters and a pro-government mob.
