Saudi Arabian security forces say they have captured one of the kingdom's most wanted militants, Fares al-Zahrani, a Muslim cleric.
Authorities said he put up no resistance when he was spotted at a cafe in a town in mountainous Abha province. A second person with Mr. al-Zahrani was also arrested (but his name was not released).
Fares al-Zahrani is on a Saudi government list of 26 most-wanted militants, all allegedly linked to the al-Qaida terror network. He is suspected of playing a leading role in the group's activities in Saudi Arabia after its leader Abdul Aziz al-Muqrin was killed by security forces in June.
Mr. al-Zahrani rejected a Saudi offer two months ago of amnesty for al-Qaida members who surrendered to authorities.
