An activist group says three U.S. organizations have canceled visits to Burma to honor a boycott called by detained Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
The U.S. Campaign for Burma says the American Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution and Asia Society informed it of the cancellations during August. The group welcomed the move.
Nobel peace laureate and Aung San Suu Kyi and other Burmese democracy leaders have called for a tourism boycott of Burma until the country's military government allows an irreversible transition to democracy.
