Burma's military government has criticized the United States for keeping Burma on its list of major drug trafficking anddrug producing countries.
Burma accused Washington of being "irresponsible" for blaming the military government in Rangoon for failing to do enough to fight drugs.
The United States said Thursday that Burma failed to adhere to international counter-narcotics obligations. In a separate statement, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Robert Charles said Burma is the second largest producer of opium in the world.
