Burma's new foreign minister is expected to attend the annual United Nations General Assembly later this week, only a few days after being appointed to the post.
Sources close to Burma's military government say Major General Nyan Win will join the Burma delegation already in New York. He is expected to be accompanied by Burmese Labor Minister Tin Win.
It is still not known whether Major General Nyan Win will attend next month's summit of European and Southeast Asian leaders in Vietnam.
European governments agreed to attend the Asia-Europe Meeting, provided that Burma send a low-level delegation to the talks.
