A Burmese court has sentenced four opposition party officials to seven years in prison following a closed trial inside a Burmese jail.
Their lawyer says the four, all members of Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy, were found guilty Thursday at the notorious Insein Prison outside Rangoon.
Details of the charges were not clear, but the lawyer said the four were convicted without any concrete evidence to prove their guilt. An appeal is likely.
Human-rights groups say Burma's military government has jailed more than 1,000 political prisoners. Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for more than a year.
