A French man has been shot to death in Saudi Arabia.
The victim identified as Laurent Barbot was killed early Sunday in the Red Sea port of Jeddah. Officials say he worked for the French electronic company Thales, which contracts with the Saudi Navy.
The French news agency quotes a company spokesman as saying the victim was found in the driver's seat of his car, dying from two gunshot wounds.
The Saudi Interior Ministry acknowledged the killing and said it is investigating. It did not provide details.
Today's shooting follows a series of killings targeting Western workers and government facilities in the Kingdom. The attacks began in May of 2003.
Last week, a British worker was killed in Riyadh, and al-Qaida terrorists claimed responsibility.
