Syrian officials are blaming Israel for Sunday's car bomb attack in Damascus that killed a senior member of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Syrian officials say the assassination of Izz el-Deen al-Sheikh Khalil was a terrorist attack.
Hamas vowed to avenge the attack. Some members threatened to attack Israelis traveling abroad. But other Hamas officials said the group would stick to its policy of only attacking in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Israel has not commented on the blast. But Israel's Channel Two television reported Israeli agents were behind the explosion.
Earlier this month, Israeli authorities vowed to strike Hamas leaders abroad after the group killed 16 people in suicide attacks on Israeli buses.
