The U.S. military in Iraq says coalition forces struck a building in Fallujah early today (Tuesday) where militants loyal to wanted terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi were meeting.
Officials say an unknown number of militants were killed in the precision strike, after intelligence confirmed that terrorists at the site were planning attacks.
Elsewhere, U.S. officials say U.S. troops captured the leader of a suspected insurgent cell in the northern city of Kirkuk. A U.S. statement says the suspect (Husayn Salman Muhammad al-Jabburi) is believed to head a cell with ties to al-Qaida terrorists.
U.S. forces also carried out sustained airstrikes for a second straight night against insurgent positions in Baghdad's Sadr City -- a stronghold of Shi'ite rebels.
And in southern Iraq insurgents attacked a British military convoy in Basra, killing two soldiers.
