Burmese military ruler General Than Shwe has visited a major Buddhist shrine as he continues his trip to India.
General Than Shwe prayed at the Bodh Gaya pilgrimage site in the eastern Indian state of Bihar. He is scheduled to return to Burma Friday.
Burmese exiles in India have protested General Than Shwe's visit, blaming Burma's military government for suppressing pro-democracy activity. They also criticized India for hosting the visit, the first by a Burmese head of state in 24 years.
