Rights groups say a prominent Burmese student dissident has been released from prison after spending more than 13 years in jail.
The groups say Ko Htay Kywe was released Tuesday from Burma's Insein prison.
In an interview with the Democratic Voice of Burma, Ko Htay Kywe said his health has improved after undergoing stomach surgery.
Ko Htay Kywe was a prominent leader in nationwide pro-democracy student protests in Burma in 1988. First detained in 1988, he was arrested again in 1991 and sentenced to 15 years in prison later that year.
