Palestinian sources say Yasser Arafat is near death at a Paris hospital, after slipping into a deeper coma earlier today(Tuesday).
The sources say Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia met with French doctors and received a detailed medical report. No details have been released.
Earlier, a hospital spokesman said Mr. Arafat's condition had deteriorated overnight.
A hospital spokesman described the development as "significant" but he did not elaborate. There has been no official diagnosis of Mr. Arafat's illness.
Prime Minister Qureia, his predecessor Mahmoud Abbas and Foreign Minister Nabil Sha'ath traveled to Paris Monday. They had initially canceled the trip after Mr. Arafat's wife, Suha, accused them of plotting a coup against her husband.
