Burma's military government has called on all owners of unregistered automobiles to surrender their vehicles or face legal action.
Burma's police director said unregistered car owners should turn their vehicles in to police stations as soon as possible to avoid any legal problems. He said no questions would be asked. There is no word on when the amnesty will end.
Thousands of autos have been smuggled into Burma in recent years, primarily from China and Thailand. Such unregistered vehicles are generally cheaper than registered ones.
